The Gloucester Streetscape Revitalization included a redesign of the vehicular circulation on the main street from two way to one way flow, while addressing the need to create a pedestrian friendly downtown that was also ADA compliant.
We proposed traffic calming treatments such as bump-outs at intersections and crosswalks with narrowed roadway widths. A small plaza was proposed which emulated the natural heritage of the Gloucester area through the use of natural granite boulders and a concrete path emulating the beach in which bronze inlays of sea life such as starfish and lobster claws were set. Plant material utilized on the site was primarily native species which also echoed the beach theme.
On this particular project I was also the Resident Engineer/Clerk of the Works for the construction phase.
